Challenge: Prepare healthy meals and snacks in advance!

Your Truth: I simply do not have time to prepare or eat in the mornings.  I am always rushing for work. 

Dare: Prepare your meals, snack, and even breakfast for tomorrow.  Another suggestion is to have ready-to-go foods handy such as low-fat yogurt, nuts, peanut butter on whole wheat crackers, and boiled eggs.

Challenge: No, not even eggs!

Truth: I eat meat with each meal.  I love burgers, chicken and seafood. 

Dare: Eat like a vegan.  Enjoy meatless meals and still get your recommended amount of proteins and nutrients you need.

Challenge: No Coffee, No Coffee Time

Truth: I drink coffee everyday!  I can’t imagine not having a cup of coffee each day. 

Dare: Start your day with either green tea or iced water to boost your metabolism.  Both green tea and water have shown to boost metabolism to keep you fuel throughout the day.

#Dare2BeFit Challenge: Day 3

Good morning challengers!

How did yesterday's dare go? Today, we're going to try something that may be a little different for some of us. I'm challenging you to step out of your comfort zone and try working out with a partner or a group. One of my favorite reasons to workout with a partner or a group is the motivation I receive. When I'm with someone else, we can encourage one another and help each other to push through the tough moments. Already have a workout buddy? Give them a shoutout in the comments below!

Challenge: Join a buddy or group to workout.

Your Truth: I feel more comfortable exercising alone. I feel like other people are looking at me.

Food Jonezi's Dare: Move your buns to today, but move along with a workout group. You may learn new moves or meet a new friend. We double dare you to get out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Truth: I can cycle fast while listening to my favorite fast song for 30 minutes.

Dare: Cycle at the same speed for 30 minutes while listening to classical music.

By signing up for this challenge you have my support, as well as others who are on their fitness journey. Each week of our 21 day challenge will have a different theme (fitness, healthy eating, and self-empowerment). I will give you a truth or dare on every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Truth: I can run on the treadmill while talking.

Dare: I can run on the treadmill while clearly repeating this tongue twister: Food Jonezi fitness challenge feels freaking fabulous therefore four friends should try it!

Happy & Healthy Fourth of July!

A Happy & Healthy 4th of July to you! Who's going to watch fireworks tomorrow?

The 4th of July is a time of celebration. Here are some simple food and nutrition tips as you enjoy the holiday with family and friends:

1.     Use smaller plates to fix your meals.

2.     Make half your plate vegetables and fruits.

3.     Enjoy lean baked and grilled meats. Try to avoid fried foods including vegetables and fruits.

4.     After each meal, wait 10 minutes before having seconds.

5.     Snack on watery, juicy fruits, vegetables and nuts to keep you hydrated and full.

6.     Make a low-fat dipping sauce for crabs or seafood.

Low-fat crab dipping sauce ideas:  

Instead of mayonnaise TRY 1 tbsp of Low-fat Mayonnaise with 1tbsp of Dijon Mustard or Horseradish OR 1 tbsp of original or flavor hummus with 1 tbsp of Dijon Mustard or Horseradish

Instead of salt TRY a mixed herbal blend such as basil, rosemary, and oregano OR Mrs. Dash without salt

Instead of hot sauce TRY cayenne pepper, hot peppers or jalapenos     

Finally, always practice good food safety habits:

·       Check food temperatures periodically.  

·       Mayonnaise-based salads should always be stored on ice.

·       Meats and protein-based foods (eggs) should be covered and away from uncooked meats.
